988 Short-Dial for National Suicide Prevention Lifeline Available Nationwide July 16

Call and Text Support Available

Green Bay, WI (July 15, 2022) – A faster way to seek mental health support during a crisis will soon be available nationwide. Starting July 16, calling or texting 988 will connect individuals to the National Suicide Prevention and Mental Health Crisis Lifeline. The toll-free number 1-800-273-TALK is available now and will remain available after the nationwide transition to the short code is completed on July 16.

Calling or texting 988 connects an individual to a trained counselor at the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline Network Lifeline counselors will listen, provide support, and connect individuals to additional resources if necessary.

“Lifeline is a critical resource, and the new nationwide 988 short code will make it very easy to access. We encourage people to share this number with their friends, family and networks to help spread the word and possibly save a life,” said Cindy Durand, senior director of public affairs at Nsight.

The texting service does not support multimedia messages, including pictures and videos. Including these items will cause message failure. Users should only include text in the body of their text messages to 988.

There is no charge from a service provider to utilize this service, however the device needs to have an active plan and will not work on a disconnected cell phone. For additional information, Cellcom customers can visit www.cellcom.com/988 and Nsight Telservices customers can visit www.nsighttel.com/news-room.

Nsight’s Investment in Oconto County Continues

Cellcom completing 15 cell site projects in 2022; Nsight Telservices constructing
fiber in three neighborhoods

(July 11, 2022) – Nsight, locally based telecommunication company, and its subsidiaries continue investing in Oconto County through a number of projects. Cellcom activated four cell sites in Oconto County this spring, with new sites in Breed, Riverview, southwest of Townsend and west of Oconto along State Highway 22. This expands coverage areas and adds capacity for a better experience with data applications and increased connections during busier tourism times.

“These new cell sites help fill coverage gaps and strengthen LTE service, which is the technology that powers internet service on your smartphone and more recently became the service that you use to make calls and send texts,” said Rick Brooks, CTO and VP of Engineering for Cellcom. “As demand for data services continues to increase, new cell sites also help move users off high-traffic sites, which helps improve everyone’s experience.”

Additional improvements are planned through the rest of the year in other areas, including sites in Little Suamico, northeast of Lakewood, Oconto Falls, southwest of Bagley and small cells in Suring and Oconto Falls. Small cells are low-powered cell sites that cover smaller areas and help improve customer experience in busy areas.

“As the only wireless provider local to Wisconsin, we know that rural areas are some of the most popular destinations for our customers. Investing in these rural communities is a priority for Cellcom,” said Brooks. “Cell sites can take months of planning and implementation and supply chain delays have stretched timelines a bit, but we continue to push to complete these projects and are already planning ahead for future years.”

Additionally, the existing cell sites in Kelly Lake, Lena, Oconto Falls and Suring will have additional capacity added to allow for more connections and a better data experience.

Beyond network enhancements, many customers can nowtake advantage of Wi-Fi Calling. This technology allows users to make calls and send texts and picture messages over a Wi-Fi connection. It’s helpful in fringe coverage areas and does not require a high-speed connection to utilize. Learn more about this service at www.cellcom.com/wificalling

Nsight Telservices serves portions of Oconto County with internet, TV and phone service. The company has three residential projects in Little Suamico, bringing fiber-to-the-home to more than 200 residents in Rustic Acres, Havenwood Hills and Wedgewood Estates neighborhoods.

“We’re proud of our ongoing commitment to maintain our existing infrastructure to best serve rural customers, while also investing in the latest technology. For many years, we have taken a fiber-first approach, installing fiber in new neighborhoods or when we need to relocate or replace portions of the network. Going forward, we’ll continue to seek opportunities to install fiber in our existing internet territories,” said Brooks.
