Annual Kick-Off Party Presented by Prevea Sports Medicine on Jan. 10

Green Bay, WI (December 18, 2017) – The Cellcom Green Bay Marathon is more than six months away, but training for the event is just around the corner. The annual kick-off party presented by Prevea Sports Medicine will get training season underway on Wednesday, January 10 at the Titletown Brewery Tap Room (320 N. Broadway, Green Bay). Doors will open at 6:15 p.m. with the program starting at 7:00 p.m.

The evening is a night of camaraderie and inspiration to get runners off on the right foot as they prepare for the Cellcom Green Bay Marathon events in May.

“When you start working toward the goal of a half marathon or full marathon, it’s helpful to know that you’re not alone. Our participants all have their own reason to run, but they’re all working toward the same finish line,” said Toni Jaeckels, race director for the Cellcom Green Bay Marathon. “It’s motivating to come together and celebrate the start of the journey and we hope our runners leave feeling even more confident in their abilities and the training that lies ahead.”

Part of that motivation will come from the keynote speaker, Rob Verhelst. Known as “Fireman Rob”, Verhelst is a firefighter, Air Force veteran, and served as a rescue worker at Ground Zero following 9/11. His life has been a training ground for his message of the power mental strength and what it can bring to a motivated, passion-driven life. Verhelst will motivate runners to challenge themselves and ignite a mentally-tough mindset.

The kick-off will also feature an overview of the 2018 event and a presentation from Prevea Sports Medicine. A variety of running health vendors will be on-site along with the Prevea Sports Medicine team. Training team apparel will also be available for purchase. There is no cost to attend and no registration is required.

The 19th annual Cellcom Green Bay Marathon will take place May 19-20, 2018. Over the past 18 years, the race has generated more than $1.3 million in proceeds for local charities. For more information and to register, visit www.cellcomgreenbaymarathon.com.
