Ten Fox Valley High Schools to Participate
(October 21, 2013) – Voting for Cellcom’s Project Innovate kicked off today. The community voting challenge gives 10 high schools in the Fox Valley a chance to win one of two cash prizes totaling $30,000 to be used for classroom technology. The high schools participating in the 2013 Fox Valley challenge are Clintonville, Iola-Scandinavia, Lourdes Academy, New Holstein, Omro, Oshkosh West, Stockbridge, Waupaca, Weyauwega-Fremont and Winneconne.
Voting runs from 8 a.m. on October 21 to midnight on November 22. The school with the most votes at the end of the voting period will be awarded a $20,000 grand prize exclusively for the purchase of technology. The first prize winner will receive $10,000.
“Cellcom’s ultimate goal is to give back to education locally,” said Brighid Riordan, director of Public Affairs for Cellcom. “Equipping a school with the latest technology is high on the wish list of many educators and students, but budget concerns can make these items less attainable. Project Innovate aims to bridge the gap and give schools the opportunity to create the ultimate classroom.”
Schools can use their winnings to equip classrooms with SMART boards, an LCD projector, lap tops, software for games or virtual simulations, tablets and net books, or other technology to advance learning.
“This is the fourth year we’ve held Project Innovate and it’s always exciting to see the creativity students and teachers put into the challenge,” said Riordan. “The key to success in Project Innovate is to tell as many people as can to vote for your school, and the schools that mobilize early and think outside the box have had the most success.”
Anyone age 13 and up is eligible to vote, regardless of location. Each individual can vote one time and an email address is required to vote. To vote, visit www.cellcom.com/projectinnovate and click on the Fox Valley link. Cellcom will notify winners on December 2.
